Playing peek-a-boo with undergarments is nothing new. Madonna spearheaded the trend with the exposure of her iconic cone bras and corsets back in the '80s, complementing her big hair and deep red lips. Carrie Bradshaw was all about letting her bra straps show in the early 2000s, which sparked Sex and the City watchers everywhere to follow suit. Nowadays, trendsetters from pop stars to street style bloggers are pushing the envelope by giving us a glimpse of their intimates.
Showing off your boudoir body doesn't have to feel tacky or too revealing, but it can certainly be a bit intimidating. The trick is to make your lingerie-esque getup look purposeful—i.e. you don't want to give off the impression that you came directly from your bedroom to the dinner reservation. Just keep things simple. Instead of a tank, wear a silk camisole. Switch out your sundress for a slip dress. Say "no" to a cardigan, and "yes" to a silk robe. Who needs a bodycon when you have a corset? And lastly, a decent sized bralette can double as a crop top. Soon, you'll view your underwear as a necessary accessory.
