The holidays are swiftly approaching, which means plane tickets are being purchased to visit family (or jet off to a faraway island). It might be the most wonderful time of the year, but flying almost always takes a toll on one's holiday spirit. Rushing through security checkpoints and running frantically to the next terminal can be as traumatic as turbulence.
A solid education on the underlying airport rules (insert Travel Attire 101) will take you far—not only by getting you to your gate before the plane takes off, but helping you maintain your sanity while you're at it.
Take it easy. Think comfort and convenience. When it comes to shoes, choose a pair that's easy to take on and off, like flats, sneakers, or espadrilles. As cute as they are, your big, bad lace-up combat boots won't do you any favors on travel day. Jeans can feel snug when you sit for a while, which is why stretchy leggings are the ultimate go-to. Pair them with an oversized sweater or cardigan to maximize your comfort level, because we all know planes are typically unbearably cold. Finally, carry a huge tote that can easily fit all of your carry-on necessities—iPad, books, magazines, neck pillow, moisturizer, headphones, blanket—the list could go on forever.
The bustling airport is chaotic enough—don't let bad travel attire choices make it worse. Pick from our favorites to make things easy, breezy.
