Last but not least, fashion week’s grand finale is always Paris. This comes as a relief to fashion
editors as it's the most understated of them all, but as a result is actually the hardest to pull off
well. While anything goes during fashion week itself, lasting Parisian 21st century style is
summed up by the Isabel Marant girl. Just a touch of boho and a touch of rock chick, always with a
fresh twist or subtle curveball. Don’t forget the great revolution of 1789, when the French
eliminated their royalty and nobility—the disdain for bourgeois values has never left

The Rules:
1. There is no limit to how much black can be in one look. Bonus points for great inky-toned leather.
2. Tomboyish nonchalance bordering on androgyny by day, with minor touches of glamour after
dark.
3. Hair that has just had fingers run through it.
4.
Make up is minimal—either a lip or eye for the day (or even just a strong brow), and fierce dark eyes at
night.
5. Legs are key—short skirts or skinny pants (paired with a moto jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt to
play it down).
6. Jewelry is kept to a minimum. One statement piece is enough—pick effortless, delicate
heirlooms.

Everything should look like you really didn’t try at all.
The Mantra:
It’s a quieter rebellion than the all out, in-your-face one of London. Balance is key. A pretty
piece needs a tough biker jacket or counter-culture pairing.
A floaty floral dress goes with a black combat
boot. Pair something shiny (metallics or satin) with a scruffy matte counterpart. Try a luxe long
slinky skirt with a boyfriend sweater and a plain pump or cropped, frayed denim with a plain tee and structured tuxedo jacket.
'70s inspired ruffles are on trend—so mix a
pretty printed dress or shirt with something casual and downbeat.
Handbag-wise, anything goes
, as all of this (supposedly) effortless clothing calls out for a major style statement on the arm. Et voilà!
